Love me Tender

Thursday Evening, 9:24pm…

As any architect will tell you, preparing a tender for a construction project is a particularly horrible process. For those of you not familiar with what this entails, here is a description pulled from The Architect’s Job Book, Eighth Edition‘ -

‘Prepare detailed information including specifications required for construction and/or tender purposes……finalised tender documents include drawings, schedules, and specifications.’

This is a very shorthand, truncated description of a tender process. Allow me to expand and offer the reality of the situation. Tendering is the process that occurs after the planning application has been submitted, and is a means of communicating the project in sufficient scope and detail to allow contractors to provide a cost and a time scale for constructing the project. Simple enough, but behind this is a world of pain, that I have just emerged from…

Saturday Afternoon, 1:49pm…

The Saturday morning of sporting endeavours is now complete. The wife and I have both been out running, the eldest has been to karate and the youngest to gymnastics. We are now on ‘free time’, and I am waiting for the England vs New Zealand rugby international to start! It’s finally December as well, woo hoo! 23 shopping days to go by the way!

Returning to my previous remonstrations about tendering for construction projects, the information was finally despatched yesterday, so I get a free weekend (this is subject to change of course). I managed to clock up 165 hours over the last fortnight to ensure that we would meet our deadline, such is the nature of the business I’m in! I might even get to play some guitar as well, who knows!

Saturday Evening, 6:31pm…

Well done England! I managed to fall asleep on the couch after the game had finished, waking up an hour later with a stinking headache! This must be what getting old feels like! I’ve also just done something I haven’t done for over 10 years, put on MTV! Thet were doing a top 50 Christmas ones run down, and I was reminded of these little gems that I’d previously omitted from my ‘Top 15 Christmas Songs’ post-

  1. The Pretenders – 2000 miles
  2. Frankie goes to Hollywood – The Power of Love (I’m not really sure this is a Christmas song, but it was on the top 50, and the video had 3 kings wandering through the desert, so I guess it qualifies?)
  3. The DarknessChristmas Time (Don’t Let the Bells End)

I was talking about the tendering process, but you get the idea I’m sure! I am aware that my recent posts have become increasingly time driven, and sporadic in their subject matter. For a blog that it supposed to talk about guitar teaching and music, it sometimes fails miserably! Sheesh!

I should probably write some Christmas cards tonight! It’s the free mans equivalent of a prisoner having to sew mail bags! I will also think about something interesting to write about, but keep the faith everyone, I’m gearing up for a big end of year first anniversary OOH celebration thing! I know, the excitement is unbearable!
